For some years now, paddleboarding has been one of the most popular water sports in Quebec, and beyond.
Spinning on the water, with the sun and the gentle breeze grazing our cheeks; it's hard to ask for more.
However, if you want to make the experience easier, there are a few rules to follow, depending on the location or body of water you want to enjoy yourself on.
The choice of paddle board depends, among other things, on the weight and height of the person, the type of water, and the desired speed and stability of the board.
The Pèlerin Oasis 11 is an inflatable board 11 feet long and 33 inches wide. It's easy to store, stable and versatile.
Bonus! The design of this paddleboard has recently been improved with the addition of anchors to which a seat can be attached. Just great!
So, if you're ever feeling tired, or if it's very windy, you can sit down and keep paddling.
It's very practical, and provides comfort when you need it.
And if you get the urge to fish, a seat is just great!
Even though inflatable paddleboards come with a manual pump, you'll agree that inflating requires a little time and elbow grease. Sometimes, however, you just want to inflate the board more quickly, without forcing it. That's why the electric pump comes to the rescue. And when it's rechargeable, there's no need to stay near the car. You can inflate your board further away, near a body of water where access is difficult with your vehicle.
The Pèlerin rechargeable electric pump can inflate up to 3 boards, before needing to be recharged (not 3 boards at the same time!).
Isn't that nice!?
Water safety can never be overstated.
It all starts with a good personal flotation device (PFD), which is indispensable and compulsory. The Pèlerin Tewkesbury model is super comfortable. A light, well-ventilated PFD designed for water sports.
Do you have a foot leash?
Although not mandatory, its use is highly recommended, especially on large bodies of water in windy conditions, or in small rapids on rivers.
Another relevant accessory to consider is the boating safety kit.
Equipped with a flashlight, whistle and safety rope with float, it's a useful item that can save a lot of trouble.
Never leave home without a dry bag for your personal belongings!
You can slip in your sunscreen, cell phone, keys, snacks, water, etc.
After a trip on the water, of course, you need to take good care of your board.
Between uses, if you leave it outside, put it in the shade. Never in the sun. In addition, it's important to deflate it a little to prevent it from re-inflating and expanding too much in the heat. Before storing, rinse and dry thoroughly.
What's next? What's your next outing on the water?
